PRIVATE TUITION

Pandemic Situation

Whilst very much still in operation, the studio has been in lockdown to all visitors since March on account of the Coronovirus pandemic. It’s a delicate, painful, and complicated time for so many, but I’m resolute in standing by my students and their families. I’m not currently offering online lessons but the studio is very much ‘firing on all four’ with various projects and I welcome all messages/enquiries. Be safe and considerate out there one and all.

Welcome, and thank you for stopping-by. I take an informal yet professional approach, with the only emphasis being on encouragement.

A Enhanced DBS certified member of the Musician’s Union and Registry of Guitar Tutors, I offer top-class resources and a welcoming, supportive, comfortable, and safe atmosphere within which to learn.

Situated just-off a quiet street on the outskirts of Llandaff, the teaching-space is housed within my purpose-built production-studio and therefore shares the same professional acoustic-treatment, resources, and climate-control. There are numerous instruments on-hand for demonstration and explanation including a graded-hammer-action Yamaha Clavinova series piano, plus a stereo Marshall stack and Line 6 Pod HD Pro X multi-fx processing/floorboard and much more.

There’s a high quality stereo hi-fi setup for aural study and music appreciation plus WIFI and USB phone charging point. Strings, books, instruments, parts, and other accessories are all held in stock for convenience or ordered whenever required.

You can take a look and even move around the studio using the 360° photo. There are no scary ‘gym style’ memberships, just a very sensible and fair written-agreement, and fees follow Musician’s Union suggested rates in order to make lessons as accessible as possible. I also offer a free ‘introductory lesson’ which is the perfect opportunity to come along and have a good natter about what we can cover.

Whatever your subject area or instrument, I cover all supporting theoretical elements, plus aural training, regardless. I cover all the latest syllabi from ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall/LCM etc. and grade examination entry is available for all disciplines.

Grade examinations offer valuable, acknowledged qualifications, not to mention experience and tangible goals, but they’re not a ‘must’ as there is much more to music and playing an instrument than just exams. All the material will be covered regardless and only where I consider it prudent, or a student themselves wishes to study and be entered for an examination, will I suggest we take that route.
