Delivering professional-quality, fully-interactive 360° images for your business

360° Photography represents the ultimate method of capturing and demonstrating premises, resources, or scenes. I enjoy offering this same service and technology – which I originally set out to achieve for my own music production studio – to fellow companies and businesses both near and far. Google and Facebook’s continued investment in this technology guarantees that 360° imaging fast-becomes and remains the go-to tool over traditional video and imagery for marketing and advertising purposes.

Image Quality

Non-professional 360° images often contain stitch-line errors, missing sections, or other undesirable artefacts which can ruin an otherwise perfect scene. For professional-grade images this is of course unacceptable.  My images are captured in ‘bracketed HDR’ format on a DSLR coupled with high quality optics which, once meticulously stitched together, result in vibrant, crystal-clear 97.5 Megapixel 14k images. For comparison, that’s 3.5x the resolution of a 4k UHD image! The graphic below illustrates the difference:

Adding Branding

The best way to to do this is by adding a small circular logo at the nadir or ‘floor’ of the image which the viewer sees when looking downward. In many 360° images this region (and indeed the zenith, or ‘top’) of the image are ‘patched’ to mask areas which weren’t captured. I prefer to photograph these regions separately for a truly professional and seamless finish – it’s also more engaging for the viewer and gives a very effective sense of ‘floating’ in the scene, especially when experienced in VR. The area at the floor is however can be used for subtle branding, and complies within Google’s regulations. I can assist in implementing a logo or message for this purpose.

Can the images be used in other ways?

‘Virtual Tours’ are the first interesting option, but thanks to the extremely high resolution of my images, countless standard-aspect pictures can also be created from each panorama. At the top of this page you’ll also have spotted the ‘little planets’ – with considered framing, interiors can also render equally striking images, ideal for use on websites/social media/publishing materials. Another especially interesting option is the potential for creating eye-catching ‘over-capture video’ assets as demonstrated in the short clips below:

Virtual Reality

On devices such as the HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift, 360° images can be viewed completely immersively, allowing the viewer to look around the room or scene as if they were there themselves. I have a dedicated high-spec VR PC setup along with Oculus Rift and Gear VR devices for demonstration if you haven’t had the opportunity to experience it for yourself. The current ‘top of the line’ VR devices are currently limited to a resolution of 8k per eye and so, at an alarming 14k, my images are guaranteed to stand the test of time as VR technology inevitably improves.

Where are you able to shoot?

Utilising high quality carbon fibre and aluminium Manfrotto stands and tripods, my photographic rig has been designed such that it can be carried entirely in one camera bag, allowing me complete freedom. I also use heavier C-stands where substantial height is required but with additional stability. The same specialist panoramic head I use in order to shoot these panoramic images was even chosen by Nasa to be used on the International Space Station though I’m yet to test it at such altitudes myself.

How long does it take?

Coupled with experience and practise capturing images in real-world situations with minimum disruption and fast-to-deploy equipment, a single image can potentially be shot within mere minutes. For busy locations with lots of foot traffic I can of course be at locations outside of public opening hours. Populated images can also be shot however to demonstrate popularity and I have a few tricks up my sleeve in order to capture such scenes whilst retaining anonymity for any individuals present whilst shooting. After the shoot, the images are then individually stitched together using proprietary software (and skill), ready for the chosen outlet.

Is this expensive?

As a one-off expense with lifetime usage and no ongoing costs, it represents incredibly good value for money. The requirements of the business/venue ultimately dictate the scale of the capture, however my rates are guaranteed to suit your budget and remain competitive without devaluing the premium level of the product or service.  For businesses with changing interiors or seasonal stock, I have attractive discount options for re-shoots.  I am especially keen to assist fellow local businesses benefit from these assets – simply get in touch to learn more and find out what we can achieve together.

Freelance image capture

Perhaps you yourself run a professional 360° imaging business and require additional shooters for virtual tours etc.  If I can be of assistance, then please do get in touch. I pride myself on reliability and professionalism and would welcome the opportunity to capture exciting images and scenes which I might not otherwise have the opportunity to.
