Released waaaay back in 2010, ‘Jessica’ is a sweet album with hidden depths. Featuring standout lyrics by Geoff Court, and vocals by a then 14-year-old(!) and very much ‘taken under the wing’ Jessica Hallett the album was written, recorded, and produced by Rhodri L John. ‘Jessica’ is a pop record through and through. That said, it is, in equal-measure, a response to the all-too-common then, and unfortunately still, angst-less ‘youngster pop’. Most importantly, it nurtured and fueled a young enthusiasm for music, song, and performance for Jess (ok, so it put about 5 and 15 years on Geoff and myself respectively, but that isn’t the point).
